Monday August 3rd...This morning I got up bright and early to give a presentation to the Spencer Day Breaker Kiwanis Group. We talked about my year as Mrs. Iowa International and most importantly discussed the many ways to get involved with the American Heart Association. I am pictured here with the Chapter President.
What an incredible year this is going to be. Just to let you know a little bit more about myself. I am of course married. My husband Ron, is a Lt. with the Spencer Police Department. We have three children, two boys and a girl ages 9-13-17.
I am a registered nurse, with my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and I also hold a Nurse Executive Certificate from ANCC. I have been in this profession for over 16 years.I currently manage a surgery center.
I am working to increase awareness and education about heart disease, working with the American Heart Association. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in America and it is an issue that I am passionate about on both a personal and professional level.
Being part of the Mrs. International system has opened many doors for me to get out and spread this important message. My experience has been wonderful and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity.
Make the decision today to take one step to living a heart healthier life- do it for yourself, your family, help someone else make those changes. Never underestimate the power of your words and actions to make a positive change.
